Travel times are estimates from straight-line distance and the city's average transit speed. Real routes differ, so use them to compare bases rather than to plan a day. Time at each spot is an estimate, 2 hours by default. Places that take a whole day, such as a theme park, are set longer.

How to book Paris for less

Choose a Paris property on Agoda, copy the page link and paste it into Tripdify. The extension reads the price on every card, map and search channel and sorts by tax-inclusive total.

Under the results, check the same property on Trip.com, Hotellook and Expedia, and open flights, activities and eSIM for the same dates. Card-channel prices apply only when you pay with that card.

Read from this city's own twelve months. The table below adds the temperature and rainfall for each one.

Paris hotels are most expensive from April to June and again from September to October, with sharp spikes for Fashion Week in late September and early October, Roland Garros in late May and early June, and the trade fairs that fill the city in between. Christmas and New Year are also costly. August is unusual: many Parisians leave and some neighbourhood restaurants close, so hotels sit a little below the spring peak. The reliable lows are November and mid January through February. Unlike Asian cities Paris draws heavy weekday business demand, so Sunday nights are frequently cheaper than Friday or Saturday.

Paris month by month

Currency and card payments

The currency is the euro. Cards are the norm in Paris, with contactless accepted even at bakeries and cafes, so cash is only needed at markets and for small tips. Hotels add the taxe de séjour, a per person per night city tax that rises with the hotel's star rating, and most booking sites leave it out of the online total and let the hotel collect it at checkout. Booking.com usually lists it as a separate line while Agoda often omits it, so make sure you are comparing on the same basis. At checkout decline the conversion to your home currency and pay in euros.

Traveler tax refund

Tax free shopping and VAT refunds

France is part of the EU VAT refund system. Get a tax free form in the shop, then validate it at the customs kiosks (PABLO) at the airport as you leave the EU, whether or not France is your last EU stop. A minimum spend in one store on one day and a time limit for export apply.

Where booking pays off

Booking.com has the deepest inventory across Europe, and since Paris is Accor's home city its ALL member rates, from Ibis up to Sofitel, often equal or undercut third party sites. Agoda's card issuer channels still apply in Paris, but the spread between them is narrower than in Asia, so expect a few percent, and check whether the total includes the city tax. Tripdify reads the Agoda channels, sorts them by total including tax, and links the same dates on Trip.com and Expedia. It does not read prices from other sites, so open Booking.com and the hotel's own site on the same dates and compare the totals yourself before you pay.

Where to stay

In Paris the arrondissement number tells you most of what you need. The 1st to 4th, around the Louvre and the Marais, put everything within walking distance at the highest prices, and the 6th around Saint-Germain and the 7th by the Eiffel Tower are also costly. The 9th near Opéra and the 10th near Gare du Nord are noticeably cheaper for the same class and sit on the RER B to Charles de Gaulle, which suits the first and last night, though the streets right by Gare du Nord are scruffy late at night. The 11th around Bastille is lively and fairly priced, the 15th is a quiet residential choice for families, and Montmartre in the 18th varies street by street, so read reviews.

Airport to the city

Charles de Gaulle is the main airport. The RER B is the standard route, about 30 minutes to Gare du Nord and 35 to Châtelet, while the Roissybus takes about an hour to Opéra with easier luggage space. Taxis charge a flat fare that differs for the Right Bank and Left Bank, so for two or more people with bags they come close to the train per person and are the safer choice late at night. Orly is now served by the Metro line 14 extension opened in 2024, reaching Châtelet in around 25 minutes, which makes it far easier than before. Beauvais, used by low cost airlines, is over an hour and a half away by bus.
