Travel times are estimates from straight-line distance and the city's average transit speed. Real routes differ, so use them to compare bases rather than to plan a day. Time at each spot is an estimate, 2 hours by default. Places that take a whole day, such as a theme park, are set longer.

How to book Singapore for less

Choose a Singapore property on Agoda, copy the page link and paste it into Tripdify. The extension reads the price on every card, map and search channel and sorts by tax-inclusive total.

Under the results, check the same property on Trip.com, Hotellook and Expedia, and open flights, activities and eSIM for the same dates. Card-channel prices apply only when you pay with that card.

Read from this city's own twelve months. The table below adds the temperature and rainfall for each one.

Singapore sits on the equator, so there is no real high or low season by weather and hotel prices follow the event calendar instead. The single most expensive week is the Formula 1 night race in mid to late September, when hotels around Marina Bay sell out months ahead at several times the usual rate. Lunar New Year, the year end countdown and the June and December school holidays are also dear. The rainier northeast monsoon from November to January softens prices a little, and quiet weeks in late February, March, July and August are the reliable value. Big conferences can spike a random week, so check the dates.

Singapore month by month

Currency and card payments

The currency is the Singapore dollar. Cards and contactless payment work almost everywhere, including taxis and the MRT, but some hawker centre stalls still take only cash or a local QR wallet, so keep a few notes. Pay the hotel in Singapore dollars rather than in your home currency. Hotels and restaurants habitually quote before a 9 percent goods and services tax and a 10 percent service charge, shown as a double plus after the price, and the two together add a meaningful amount to the bill. Compare Agoda channels on the total including tax rather than the headline rate.

Traveler tax refund

Tax free shopping and VAT refunds

Singapore uses the electronic Tourist Refund Scheme (eTRS). Have the shop link your purchase to your passport, then claim the GST back at the self help kiosks at the airport before you check in, subject to a minimum purchase.

Where booking pays off

Singapore is Agoda's home city, and its inventory and channel setup here are as complete as they get, so the card issuer channels are worth a look on every booking. The city is heavy with international chains whose member rates on their own sites sometimes beat every third party, and Trip.com adds its own discounts to hotels popular with Chinese travellers. Expedia occasionally wins when you bundle the flight. Paste the Agoda link into Tripdify to sort the channels by total including tax, then open the same dates on Trip.com, Expedia and the chain's own site from the links. Tripdify does not read prices from those sites, so confirm the figure there.

Where to stay

Marina Bay and the City Hall area are the easiest first base, with the metro lines converging and the skyline and main sights on foot, at the highest prices in the city. Orchard Road suits a shopping trip and holds most of the big chain hotels. Bugis and Clarke Quay are younger, full of restaurants and bars, and cheaper for the same class than the bay. Chinatown and Little India have the boutique hotels and budget rooms next to the best hawker centres. Geylang is the cheapest district but has a red light strip, so families usually look elsewhere.

Airport to the city

From Changi a taxi or Grab reaches the city centre in about 20 to 30 minutes, with surcharges late at night and in the early morning. The MRT takes about 45 minutes to an hour with a change at Tanah Merah and is by far the cheapest way. For two or more people the taxi fare divided up comes close to the train, so most visitors take a cab. The terminals are linked by the Skytrain, and the Jewel complex is a good place to spend a long layover. Pre booked private transfers cost more than a taxi and are rarely worth it here.

Singapore hotels: common questions

When are Singapore hotels cheapest?

Quiet weeks in late February, March, July and August, and the rainier months from November to January. Avoid the F1 week in September, Lunar New Year and the year end.

How much tax is added to Singapore hotel rates?

Usually a 9 percent goods and services tax plus a 10 percent service charge on top of the headline rate. If you see a double plus after the price, recheck the total.

How do I get from Changi airport to the city?

Taxi or Grab in about 20 to 30 minutes, or the MRT with a change at Tanah Merah in about 45 minutes to an hour for the lowest fare.
