Travel times are estimates from straight-line distance and the city's average transit speed. Real routes differ, so use them to compare bases rather than to plan a day. Time at each spot is an estimate, 2 hours by default. Places that take a whole day, such as a theme park, are set longer.

How to book Saipan for less

Choose a Saipan property on Agoda, copy the page link and paste it into Tripdify. The extension reads the price on every card, map and search channel and sorts by tax-inclusive total.

Under the results, check the same property on Trip.com, Hotellook and Expedia, and open flights, activities and eSIM for the same dates. Card-channel prices apply only when you pay with that card.

Read from this city's own twelve months. The table below adds the temperature and rainfall for each one.

Saipan is dry from December to June and wet from July to November, with typhoons concentrated between August and October. Hotel prices track the Korean holiday calendar closely, because Korea is the island's largest visitor market: winter break, Lunar New Year, the summer holiday and Chuseok fill the family resorts in Garapan and San Antonio first. There are far fewer resorts than on Guam, so choice disappears quickly in peak weeks and early booking matters more here. March and late May in the dry season without a holiday, and September and October in the wet season, are the cheap windows.

Saipan month by month

Currency and card payments

Saipan is part of the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, so the currency is the US dollar and cards work at resorts, supermarkets and most restaurants. Cash covers tips, small eateries and the Managaha island fee. Hotels add the Commonwealth hotel occupancy tax, and some resorts charge a nightly resort fee that booking sites may leave out of the online total, so read the hotel's fee note first. Compare resorts on the total with tax and fees. Pay in dollars and decline any home currency conversion.

Where booking pays off

Korea is Saipan's biggest market, so Agoda's Korean issuer channels diverge clearly and the same resort can differ by several percent between them. As US territory it also has deep Expedia and Hotels.com inventory, and each site treats the resort fee differently. With so few resorts, travel agency packages that bundle flights often undercut the room alone, so price those alongside. Paste the Agoda link into Tripdify to sort every issuer channel by total including tax, then open the same dates on Expedia and Trip.com from the links. Tripdify reads Agoda prices only, so compare the other sites yourself.

Where to stay

Garapan is the centre, with the big resorts on Micro Beach and the duty free mall, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance, which makes it the easiest base without a car. Susupe and San Antonio to the south are quieter, hold the family resorts and sit a little closer to the airport. Marpi in the north has a golf resort and real quiet, but it is twenty minutes or more from town and needs a car. The whole island is small enough that nowhere is more than half an hour away, so choose by the resort's facilities and its stretch of beach.

Airport to the city

Saipan International Airport is fifteen to twenty minutes by car from Garapan. There is no rail or public bus, so the options are a hotel shuttle, a travel agency pickup, a taxi or a rental car. Flights from Korea often land late at night, when a prebooked resort or agency pickup is the least trouble; taxis are few and can mean a wait at that hour. Rental cars are available at the terminal, and the island is small enough that a car for one or two days covers everything. The road back to the airport is never congested, so timing is predictable.

Saipan hotels: common questions

When are Saipan hotels cheapest?

March and late May outside the holidays, and September and October in the wet season. Avoid Korean winter break, Lunar New Year, the summer holiday and Chuseok, when the few resorts fill first.

Is Saipan cheaper than Guam?

Room rates are similar or slightly lower on Saipan, but with far fewer resorts it can cost more in peak weeks. Compare both islands on the same dates before deciding.

Where else can I stay in Saipan besides Garapan?

Susupe and San Antonio to the south, quieter with family resorts and closer to the airport. Marpi in the north is peaceful but needs a car.
