Travel times are estimates from straight-line distance and the city's average transit speed. Real routes differ, so use them to compare bases rather than to plan a day. Time at each spot is an estimate, 2 hours by default. Places that take a whole day, such as a theme park, are set longer.

How to book Busan for less

Choose a Busan property on Agoda, copy the page link and paste it into Tripdify. The extension reads the price on every card, map and search channel and sorts by tax-inclusive total.

Under the results, check the same property on Trip.com, Hotellook and Expedia, and open flights, activities and eSIM for the same dates. Card-channel prices apply only when you pay with that card.

Read from this city's own twelve months. The table below adds the temperature and rainfall for each one.

Busan rooms peak in the beach season from late July to mid August, when ocean view rooms in Haeundae and Gwangalli sell out months ahead. The Busan International Film Festival in early October and the Gwangalli fireworks festival weekend, usually in late October or November, send the seaside districts up sharply. Lunar New Year, Chuseok and cherry blossom in early April are also high. Winter from December to February and the rainy weeks around late June and early July are the reliable low points, and the same ocean view room can be dramatically cheaper. Friday and Saturday nights carry a clear premium from weekend trips out of Seoul and Japan.

Busan month by month

Currency and card payments

The currency is the Korean won. Cards work almost everywhere in Busan, from taxis to the seafood stalls at Jagalchi market, though a few small vendors and older shops prefer cash. Foreign cards are accepted at hotels and chains, and a T money or Cashbee transit card from any convenience store covers the subway and buses. Pay in won at checkout rather than accepting the site's conversion to your home currency. There is no local accommodation tax in Busan, but some Haeundae resort hotels charge separately for parking and pool access in summer, and the value added tax is sometimes shown apart from the room rate, so compare totals.

Traveler tax refund

Tax free shopping and VAT refunds

In Korea smaller purchases over the minimum are refunded instantly at the till, while larger ones give you a refund slip that you scan with your passport at an airport kiosk or refund desk when you fly out.

Where booking pays off

Busan is second only to Seoul for Agoda's Korean card partnerships, and the big Haeundae and Gwangalli hotels often show a spread of several percent between issuer channels on the same room. The Korean portals Yanolja and Yeogi Eottae carry different inventory, particularly ocean view rooms, motels and pool villas, with their own coupons, and are worth a separate look. Trip.com is strong on Asian hotels and runs Busan promotions, and because so many visitors come from Japan the Japanese portals list Busan too. Tripdify sorts the Agoda channel prices by total including tax and links the same dates on Trip.com, Expedia and others, but does not read those sites' prices.

Where to stay

Haeundae has the big ocean view hotels and is the most expensive district in summer, while the same rooms drop steeply in winter. Gwangalli, with the bridge night view and the cafe and bar strip, is younger and usually a little cheaper. Seomyeon is the transport hub where subway lines 1 and 2 cross, full of business hotels and the best base for seeing the whole city. Nampo and the Jagalchi side are noticeably cheaper for the same class and close to the markets, Yeongdo and Gamcheon village. The Busan Station area suits KTX arrivals and is next to the international ferry terminal for Japan. Gijang is quiet and resort like, best with a car.

Airport to the city

Gimhae Airport is Busan's airport, with flights from Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Taipei and Southeast Asia. From there the Busan Gimhae Light Rail and a subway change reach Seomyeon in about 40 minutes, and the airport limousine bus takes about an hour to Haeundae, which is the easier option with luggage. A taxi to Haeundae is a long ride but fine for two or three people. From Seoul the KTX takes about two and a half hours to Busan Station, and from Fukuoka the hydrofoil ferry arrives at the Busan Port international terminal beside Busan Station in three to four hours.

Busan hotels: common questions

When are Busan hotels cheapest?

Winter from December to February and the late June rainy weeks. Late July to mid August beach season, the October film festival and the Gwangalli fireworks weekend are the most expensive.

Should I stay in Haeundae or Seomyeon in Busan?

Haeundae or Gwangalli if the beach is the point, Seomyeon or Nampo to see the whole city and save money. Busan Station is convenient right off the KTX or the ferry.

Is Agoda the cheapest for Busan hotels?

It depends on the hotel. Agoda's issuer channels differ from one another, and Yanolja and Yeogi Eottae apply their own coupons, especially on ocean view rooms. Compare the channels first, then check the domestic portals and the hotel's own site on the same dates.
