Claims flight delay and cancellation compensation for you

AirHelp files compensation claims (up to €600 under EU rules) against the airline when a flight is delayed by three hours or more or cancelled. It works on a success fee, so nothing is charged if nothing is recovered.

When it is worth it

Clear value on flights to, from or within the EU, or on an EU airline. Claiming yourself means months of stalling; the service goes as far as court. The AirHelp+ annual plan suits anyone flying to Europe more than once a year.

Use it when

  • A delay of three hours or more departing the EU, or on an EU carrier
  • You claimed directly and the airline has not answered for months
  • The compensation is large enough to be worth the success fee

Choose something else when

  • Domestic routes outside EC 261, such as within Korea or Japan, do not qualify
  • If the airline has already approved your compensation, collecting it yourself saves the fee

What to check

The success fee is large, 35~50% of the payout; small claims are better filed yourself. Domestic flights in Korea or Japan are not covered by EU regulation EC 261.

Check before you book: Flights

  • Whether a checked bag is in the fare, and what it costs if not
  • Change and refund fees, and whether you handle them with the airline or an agency
  • Whether a connection changes airports, and whether the layover survives immigration

AirHelp: common questions

How much can I get?

Under EC 261 it is 250, 400 or 600 euro by flight distance. Causes outside the airline's control, such as weather or air traffic control, are excluded, and a delay under three hours does not qualify.

How long does it take?

Weeks if the airline concedes, and over a year if it is contested into legal proceedings. Nothing is payable meanwhile because the fee is success-based, but do not count on the money arriving soon.
