Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often: what a CID is, whether the service is safe, why prices differ, what permissions the extension needs, and where your data is stored. If you cannot find an answer here, also check the Troubleshooting section of the User guide.

What is a CID?

A CID (Campaign ID) is a number Agoda attaches to URLs to identify how a visitor arrived. Each partner path, such as a card issuer, a map service, or a search engine, has its own value.

Depending on the terms agreed with each partner, Agoda may show a different price for the same hotel and the same dates. Tripdify opens the page with each CID in turn to see which path is actually cheapest.

Is it really safe?

Looking up prices means nothing more than opening Agoda pages in your own browser. Our server never connects to Agoda or acts on your behalf, and we never read or store login or payment information.

All bookings and payments happen on Agoda and the other booking sites themselves. Tripdify only compares prices and points you to the links. We do not guarantee the lowest price, that a card offer will apply, or the final total, so double-check the amount on the checkout screen.

Why do prices differ by card issuer?

When a card issuer runs a partner promotion with Agoda, a discount is created that applies only through that issuer's dedicated path. The discount rate and conditions differ by issuer and change over time, so the total for the same hotel varies from channel to channel.

This discount usually applies only when you pay with that issuer's card, and it may carry additional conditions such as prepayment only, a minimum amount, or a specific payment currency. If a card channel wins in the results table, check the conditions on the issuer's page before booking.

What if I do not have that card?

Choose a channel in the results table that is not marked Card payment required. General channels have no restriction on payment method, so you can book at the displayed price with any card.

In CID settings, turning off Search for card issuer channels you do not have keeps the results concise and shortens the comparison.

Why is the actual booking price different from the comparison?

Hotel prices and room availability change in real time. Results reflect the moment of the search and can change within minutes, and they fluctuate more often for popular hotels and in peak season.

The amount at checkout can also change with your login status, currency, and whether a coupon is applied. The comparison is based on the cheapest room, so choosing a different room type naturally gives a different price. Right before booking, use Search again to confirm the latest price.

How long does a comparison take?

Usually between 10 seconds and 1 minute, depending on the number of channels and your network. We wait up to 30 seconds per channel, and the progress screen shows how many channels have been checked and the current lowest price.

To speed it up, turn off Search in CID settings for card issuer channels you do not use. The time drops in proportion to the number of channels searched.

Can I use it on mobile?

Mobile browsers cannot install extensions, so automatic price comparison is only available on a PC. On mobile, use Link-only mode to get the channel links and open them yourself.

If you run a comparison on your PC and send a share link to your phone, you can open the results screen and tap the booking links while on the go.

Can I share results with other people?

Click Share results on the results screen to copy a link. The result data travels inside the link, so it is not stored on our server, and the recipient can view the same screen without the extension.

The shared screen notes that prices are as of the time of sharing. If the recipient wants to book, they should click Search again from the link to confirm the latest prices.

A particular hotel will not search

First check that you copied the full URL of the Agoda hotel detail page and that the URL includes the check-in date and the length of stay (or check-out). URLs of search result lists or map views are not recognized.

If the URL is correct but there is no price, the rooms are sold out for those dates or that hotel has no channel-specific rate. Make sure the extension is turned on, reload the page, and try again.

Why is there no channel comparison for Booking.com or Airbnb links?

Prices that vary by path through a CID are specific to how Agoda works. Booking.com, Trip.com, Expedia, and Airbnb have no such channel distinction, so there are simply no channels to compare.

That is why pasting a link from one of those sites immediately shows a comparison panel for finding the same property on other booking sites instead of a channel table. Booking.com and Airbnb links also carry no affiliate tracking.

How do you get prices from other sites?

We look up the lowest total for the same property and the same dates using Hotellook data, which aggregates rates from many booking sites. The line saying how much other sites start from appears on the results screen only when this lookup is available.

Because these are values indexed by Hotellook, they can differ from the checkout screen on the actual site. Follow the link under the line, then confirm the room conditions and the final amount before booking.

How are currencies and exchange rates handled?

Results are shown in whatever currency the Agoda page displayed in your browser. We do no currency conversion of our own, so if you switch Agoda to the currency you want and then copy the URL, the comparison is done in that currency.

If you pay in a foreign currency, your card issuer's foreign transaction fee and exchange rate apply, so the amount actually charged may differ. Differences by payment currency are covered in more detail on the Booking tips page.

Does the final total include taxes?

Yes. The final total in the results table is the tax- and service-charge-inclusive amount shown on the Agoda page. Choosing by nightly price alone can lead to a larger amount at checkout, so sorting and the lowest-price decision are based on this total.

Some hotels do, however, collect a resort fee or city tax separately on site. Check for items like these in the rate details on Agoda's booking screen.

Does the cancellation policy differ by channel?

The cancellation policy belongs to the room rate plan, and the cheapest plan is often non-refundable. The Free cancellation mark in the results table means the Agoda page listed that room as free to cancel.

A channel without the mark is not necessarily non-refundable, so confirm the cancellation deadline and conditions on the booking screen.

How does this relate to Agoda membership tier benefits?

Because the comparison runs in your browser, if you are logged in, the prices read already include your Agoda membership tier benefits. If you are not logged in, guest prices are compared.

Comparing while logged in to the account you will actually pay with gives results closest to the checkout amount. Membership benefits, channel prices, and coupons do not always stack, so confirm the final amount on the checkout screen.

Do you also show coupons or discount codes?

When a partner provides coupons or discount codes, they appear under a Coupons and discount codes item on the results screen and the Link-only screen, and expired coupons are hidden automatically. If no coupons are currently registered, the item is not shown.

Coupons, card issuer discounts, and payment promotions often cannot be combined. It is safest not to use codes from sites of unclear origin.

How does Tripdify cover its running costs?

Some of the links on the results screen and in the comparison panel are affiliate links. When you click a link yourself and complete a booking or purchase, that site pays us a small commission, and the amount you pay does not change.

Tracking happens only when you click a link, and no affiliate information is attached to the background tabs opened for comparison. The details are laid out on the Affiliate disclosure page.

Where is my data stored?

Search results, search history, and CID settings are all stored in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is stored on our server, and share links only carry the data inside the URL without leaving anything on the server either.

As a result, your history is not visible on other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser's site data removes the history as well.

Why does the extension need permissions?

Tripdify Saver uses only the tabs and storage permissions plus host permission for agoda.com. tabs is needed to open each channel's Agoda page in a background tab, read the price, and close it; the agoda.com host permission is needed to read the price shown on that page.

storage is used to keep the extension's own settings inside the browser. The extension does not read the content of any other site, and the data it reads is passed only to the Tripdify site tab that started the comparison.

How do I remove the extension and my data?

At chrome://extensions, click Remove on Tripdify Saver to uninstall the extension. You can delete the unzipped folder as well.

Search history saved on the site can be cleared with Delete all on the History screen. To remove everything including CID settings, delete the Tripdify site data in your browser settings.

Which browsers are supported?

Tripdify Saver is built to the Chrome extension specification (Manifest V3) and has been verified on desktop Chrome. Other Chromium-based browsers may be able to load it the same way, but we do not guarantee that it works.

Safari, Firefox, and mobile browsers are not supported. The site itself opens in any browser, and Link-only mode works without the extension.

How do I contact you?

If you run into a problem or have a suggestion, let us know through the link at the bottom of the site. Including the browser you used, the form of the URL you pasted, and the error message shown on screen helps us look into it faster.
