Nha Trang is dry from January to August and wet from September to December, with October and November bringing the longest rain and the occasional typhoon. Rooms peak in June, July and August when Vietnamese families take their summer holiday, and again over Tet and the Christmas and New Year period. Korean demand adds a second peak in the Korean winter break and around the Lunar New Year, when the resorts that market to Korean families fill first. Early December and March give the best balance of weather and price. In the wet season the sea can be too rough for boat trips, which matters more here than the rain itself.
The currency is the dong. Resorts, larger hotels and malls take cards, while beachfront restaurants, the market and massage places prefer cash, and a card linked to Grab covers the taxis. Many hotels add ten percent VAT and a five percent service charge on top of the room rate, so compare totals rather than displayed rates. Food and drink inside the resorts costs far more than in town, which makes a breakfast inclusive rate worth more here than in a city. Pay in dong or US dollars rather than accepting a conversion into your home currency.
