Yesim eSIM

Mobile data abroad without swapping a SIM

Yesim sells eSIMs. Scan a QR code and local data connects, no physical SIM to swap.

When it is worth it

No queue at the airport SIM counter, and your home number stays active while data runs on the local network. On a multi-country trip it is clearly simpler than buying a SIM in each one. Install it before you fly and you are connected the moment you land.

Use it when

  • An itinerary crossing several countries in one trip
  • You need maps and ride-hailing working the moment you land
  • You must keep receiving verification texts on your home number

Choose something else when

  • Staying put in one country for a long time, a local carrier SIM is often cheaper per gigabyte
  • If you need to make and take calls on a local number, a data-only eSIM will not do it

What to check

Your phone has to support eSIM. Recent models generally do; some older and carrier-locked handsets do not. And most eSIM plans are data-only, so local voice calls will not work.

Check before you book: eSIM

  • That your handset supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked
  • Whether it is data-only, or whether calls on a local number work
  • That the plan starts on your arrival date, and what happens when the data runs out

Yesim eSIM: common questions

How do I check whether my phone takes an eSIM?

Most iPhones from the XS and Galaxy models from the S20 do. If your settings offer an option to add an eSIM, the handset supports it. A carrier-locked phone will not, even on a supported model, so check before you fly.

When should I install it?

Install before departure, on wifi, and set the plan to start on your arrival date. Installation and activation are separate steps, so once it is loaded you only have to switch it on after landing.
