EKTA sells travel insurance online. Enter destination and dates, choose from a few plans by cover limit, and the policy arrives by email as soon as you pay.
When it is worth it
Worth it when card-bundled cover is not enough, above all on trips to the US, Japan or Europe, where a high medical limit matters. Activity cover (skiing, diving) is an add-on, which is exactly what general policies exclude. It is also one of the few insurance programs that explicitly allows browser-extension traffic.
Use it when
- Your card's built-in cover has a medical limit low enough to worry you
- Your trip includes skiing, diving or another activity standard policies exclude
- You are about to leave and need a certificate now
Choose something else when
- If your employer or card already provides cover at a sufficient limit, this duplicates it
- A policy from an insurer in your own country lets you claim in your own language, which matters if an English process is a burden

When does cover begin?
On the start date you choose at checkout. Match it to your departure date, and for a destination in another time zone read the reference time printed on the certificate rather than assuming local arrival.
Do I pay the hospital myself?
Usually yes, then claim it back. Keep every receipt and the medical report. For a large bill, call the 24-hour number on the certificate first and ask whether the hospital can be settled directly.
