Saipan seasons and room prices
Saipan is dry from December to June and wet from July to November, with typhoons concentrated between August and October. Hotel prices track the Korean holiday calendar closely, because Korea is the island's largest visitor market: winter break, Lunar New Year, the summer holiday and Chuseok fill the family resorts in Garapan and San Antonio first. There are far fewer resorts than on Guam, so choice disappears quickly in peak weeks and early booking matters more here. March and late May in the dry season without a holiday, and September and October in the wet season, are the cheap windows.
Saipan local costs and payment
Saipan is part of the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, so the currency is the US dollar and cards work at resorts, supermarkets and most restaurants. Cash covers tips, small eateries and the Managaha island fee. Hotels add the Commonwealth hotel occupancy tax, and some resorts charge a nightly resort fee that booking sites may leave out of the online total, so read the hotel's fee note first. Compare resorts on the total with tax and fees. Pay in dollars and decline any home currency conversion.
