Paris seasons and room prices
Paris hotels are most expensive from April to June and again from September to October, with sharp spikes for Fashion Week in late September and early October, Roland Garros in late May and early June, and the trade fairs that fill the city in between. Christmas and New Year are also costly. August is unusual: many Parisians leave and some neighbourhood restaurants close, so hotels sit a little below the spring peak. The reliable lows are November and mid January through February. Unlike Asian cities Paris draws heavy weekday business demand, so Sunday nights are frequently cheaper than Friday or Saturday.
Paris local costs and payment
The currency is the euro. Cards are the norm in Paris, with contactless accepted even at bakeries and cafes, so cash is only needed at markets and for small tips. Hotels add the taxe de séjour, a per person per night city tax that rises with the hotel's star rating, and most booking sites leave it out of the online total and let the hotel collect it at checkout. Booking.com usually lists it as a separate line while Agoda often omits it, so make sure you are comparing on the same basis. At checkout decline the conversion to your home currency and pay in euros.
