Jeju seasons and room prices

Jeju rooms peak in the summer beach season from late July to mid August, when flights sell out even before hotels. Lunar New Year, Chuseok, the early April cherry and canola blossom weeks and the October autumn weekends are also high. The rainy weeks from late June into early July and winter from December to February are the reliable low points, and winter has its own appeal with the tangerine harvest and camellias. The gap between weekend and weekday is wide, so a Sunday to Thursday stay can bring a resort down substantially. Typhoons in late August and September occasionally cancel flights, so keep an eye on the forecast then.

Jeju local costs and payment

The currency is the Korean won. Cards work almost everywhere on Jeju, including rental cars, cafes and the big markets, though some small guesthouses and roadside stalls prefer cash. Foreign cards are fine at hotels and chains, but renting a car needs an international driving permit, which many visitors overlook. Pay in won at checkout rather than accepting the site's conversion to your home currency. There is no local accommodation tax, but resort hotels often add breakfast and pool fees and the value added tax is sometimes shown separately, so compare totals. Public transport is thin outside Jeju City, so budget for a rental car or taxis.
