Da Nang seasons and room prices

Da Nang's dry season runs from February to August, and the peak is the June to August school holiday period when families from Korea and across Vietnam fill the My Khe beachfront resorts weeks ahead. Tet, the Vietnamese lunar new year in late January or February, and the Korean holiday weeks also lift prices. From September to December the rainy season brings long wet spells and the occasional typhoon in October and November, and the same resort can drop sharply. Hoi An and the Ba Na Hills are still perfectly good in that season, so a trip built around them rather than the beach gets the low rates.

Da Nang local costs and payment

The currency is the Vietnamese dong, and the many zeros take a day to get used to, so learn the note colours. Resorts, malls and larger restaurants take cards, but local eateries, markets, massage shops and cash paid Grab rides need dong. Gold shops in town give better exchange rates than the airport, so change only a little on arrival. Pay the hotel in dong rather than in your home currency or US dollars. Vietnamese hotels often list rooms before VAT and a 5 percent service charge, so compare Agoda channels on the total including tax.
