Peak season is March, April, July, August, and December, when rooms cost the most.

Busan seasons and room prices

Busan rooms peak in the beach season from late July to mid August, when ocean view rooms in Haeundae and Gwangalli sell out months ahead. The Busan International Film Festival in early October and the Gwangalli fireworks festival weekend, usually in late October or November, send the seaside districts up sharply. Lunar New Year, Chuseok and cherry blossom in early April are also high. Winter from December to February and the rainy weeks around late June and early July are the reliable low points, and the same ocean view room can be dramatically cheaper. Friday and Saturday nights carry a clear premium from weekend trips out of Seoul and Japan.

Busan local costs and payment

The currency is the Korean won. Cards work almost everywhere in Busan, from taxis to the seafood stalls at Jagalchi market, though a few small vendors and older shops prefer cash. Foreign cards are accepted at hotels and chains, and a T money or Cashbee transit card from any convenience store covers the subway and buses. Pay in won at checkout rather than accepting the site's conversion to your home currency. There is no local accommodation tax in Busan, but some Haeundae resort hotels charge separately for parking and pool access in summer, and the value added tax is sometimes shown apart from the room rate, so compare totals.
