Travel times are estimates from straight-line distance and the city's average transit speed. Real routes differ, so use them to compare bases rather than to plan a day. Time at each spot is an estimate, 2 hours by default. Places that take a whole day, such as a theme park, are set longer.

How to book Boracay for less

Choose a Boracay property on Agoda, copy the page link and paste it into Tripdify. The extension reads the price on every card, map and search channel and sorts by tax-inclusive total.

Under the results, check the same property on Trip.com, Hotellook and Expedia, and open flights, activities and eSIM for the same dates. Card-channel prices apply only when you pay with that card.

Cheapest May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep

A regional seasonality estimate; see the notes below for this city and its specifics.

Boracay's high season follows the amihan, the northeast wind that blows from late October to May and keeps White Beach calm and clear; January to May is the best of it, with the least rain. Rooms peak over Christmas and New Year, Lunar New Year, Holy Week before Easter, and the Philippine summer break in April and May, and holiday weeks in Korea and China fill the White Beach resorts first. From June to September the southwest habagat pushes waves and seaweed onto White Beach and typhoons can pass, so the same room drops sharply in price. In those months it is Bulabog on the east side that turns calm.

Currency and card payments

The currency is the Philippine peso. Resorts and the larger restaurants around D'Mall take cards, but electric tricycles, island hopping, the D'Talipapa market, massages and tips are all cash, so carry enough pesos. There are ATMs around D'Mall, though they can run dry in peak weeks. At the Caticlan jetty you pay a terminal fee, an environmental fee and the boat fare separately, in cash. Resorts often add VAT and a service charge on top of the room rate, and the gap between displayed price and total varies by site, so compare totals including tax and pay in pesos rather than your home currency.

Where booking pays off

Since the island's environmental rehabilitation, visitors may only stay at accommodation accredited by the Department of Tourism, and the jetty asks for a booking confirmation before you board. Most properties on the large sites such as Agoda and Trip.com are accredited, but check the cheapest ones. Agoda holds the deepest Philippine inventory, and at the White Beach resorts popular with Korean guests its card issuer channels spread noticeably. A resort's own package that bundles the transfer from Kalibo or Caticlan and the boat can also come out ahead. Paste the Agoda link into Tripdify to sort the channels by total including tax, then open the same dates on Trip.com and Expedia.

Where to stay

White Beach divides into Stations 1, 2 and 3. Station 1 at the north end has the widest, finest sand and most of the upscale resorts; Station 2 around D'Mall has the restaurants and bars and is the most convenient, though noisy late at night; Station 3 at the south end is quiet and the cheapest for the same class. Across the island, Bulabog is windy in the amihan season and is where the kitesurfing lodges cluster, while Diniwid in the northwest is a small, secluded cove. Newcoast and the Puka Beach side in the north have a golf course and large resorts, peaceful but about 15 minutes by car from D'Mall.

Airport to the city

Boracay has no airport of its own, so you fly into Caticlan or Kalibo on Panay across the strait. Caticlan airport is five minutes by car from the jetty and is reached on short flights from Manila, Cebu and Clark, while Kalibo takes larger jets, including international flights from Northeast Asia, and is 90 minutes to two hours from the jetty by bus or van. At the Caticlan jetty you pay the terminal and environmental fees and the boat fare, cross in about 15 minutes to Cagban port, and reach your hotel by electric tricycle or van in 10 to 20 minutes. For a late arrival at Kalibo, a transfer package covering van, boat and island ride is the least hassle.
